Interview with Ron Stanger from The Village Market – Wine Recommendations for the Holidays

[mappress mapid=”null”]We just finished an interview at The Village Market with the owner and wine expert, Ron Stanger.  Ron detailed what would be best for Thanksgiving dinner and he had three recommendations that are on promotion now through the holidays.  Ron said that you want a low tannin wine with little or no oak to pair best with the complex flavors for a Thanksgiving dinner.  He recommended a Hahn SLH Pinot (regularly $24, now $20), a Trefethan Dry Reisling (regularly $24 on promo at $20) and a Mumm Brut Rose (regularly $24 on promo at $20) sparkling wine for this year.  Ron has been buying wine for his Village Market Store since 1980.  He also encouraged people to put out a few glasses and serve whatever you like and let “the empty bottle” be the judge of what your guest like.  If you like chardonnays, serve them.  If you like Cabernets, serve those too.  Ron suggested avoiding younger Cabernets so that the flavors are not fighting with the food.
